
San Bernardino City Violence Intervention Program (VIP):
Funded by CA Board of State Community & Corrections
Operation New Hope’s VIP Program is a strategic, community-centered initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and enhancing public safety in San Bernardino. Funded through the California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) program, VIP delivers evidence-based and best-practice solutions to address violence in the city’s most impacted neighborhoods.
In collaboration with the San Bernardino Police Department, the Mayor’s Office, and the City Manager’s Office, VIP focuses on youth and adults who are at the highest risk of experiencing or engaging in gun and gang-related violence.

Through Operation New Hope’s trauma-informed, evidence-based approach, the VIP Program empowers individuals to make positive choices, build leadership skills, and create real opportunities for personal and community transformation.
Mentorship
Youth are matched with caring, consistent mentors who guide them through life’s challenges, provide support, and model positive choices.
Tutoring & Academic Support
Whether catching up in school or preparing for future studies, our tutoring helps youth succeed academically and stay on track.
Workforce Development
We help youth explore careers, build job readiness skills, and connect with training or employment opportunities.
Case Management
Each participant receives one-on-one support to create a personalized plan that connects them to resources, sets goals, and tracks progress.
Group Counseling
Through peer-based discussions, youth explore real-life issues, build emotional resilience, and learn new ways to cope and grow.
Community Service
Youth gain leadership experience and give back to their neighborhoods through service projects that promote pride and connection.
Eligibility Requirements
Participants must:

Be high risk OR
-
Suffer from gang/gun violence OR
-
From a neighborhood that experiences gang/gun violence OR
-
Not identify as a member of a gang but may demonstrate behaviors that increase the likelihood of gang involvement or gang membership OR
-
Have family or friends who have suffered from gang violence
